Rethinking land and property

The potential of socially and ecologically orientated forms of ownership
LIVESTREAM. A cooperation of the World Goetheanum Association and Goetheanum-TV.
Podiums discussion s part of the series:

What strengthens the power of transformation - new approaches for companies

Andrea Valdinoci (World Goetheanum Association, CH) in conversation with Natasha Hulst (Schumacher Centre, NL), Jasper Holler (Bioboden, DE), Dr Ulrich Kriese (Edith Maryon Foundation, CH), Gerald Häfner (Social Science Section at the Goetheanum, CH) and other guests.

It is remarkable what cultural sites have been created in recent decades because people have not sold land and buildings for profit, but have donated them to initiatives, for example, and in turn enabled other people to build and shape their lives. A wealth of experience has been gained: when the prevailing market mechanism is suspended, a social and ecological impact can be achieved that gives us an idea of what an economic system could look like that is based less on competition and more on fraternity. We also explore the question of what this could mean for companies with sustainably built and affordable living spaces for employees. This also touches on the issue of long-term socially acceptable rents, etc. What can we learn from such experiences and, above all, how can we continue to strengthen this development so that more people become actively involved in alternative forms of ownership?

A panel discussion on the potential of new forms of ownership in land and property. We want to bring these current formats into dialogue and link them to the necessary transformation of our entire economy. Rather than highlighting the individual instruments we want to emphasise the potential for companies that want to tackle the issue of ownership and break new ground here.
